In order to learn the red revolutionary culture of Jinzhai County, Lu'an City, Anhui Province, visit the rural revitalization plan of Jinzhai County, investigate the cultivation industry of Jinzhai Polygonatum and the situation of scientific and technological assistance to agriculture, and inspect the local natural and cultural tourism industry, the summer social practice team of Chang'an University went to Jinzhai County, Lu'an City, Anhui Province to carry out the summer social practice activity of Revisiting the Revolutionary Road and Helping Rural Rejuvenation. This practical activity centered on the four themes of Red Revolutionary Culture, Rural Revitalization, Agricultural Rejuvenation by Science and Technology, and Tourism Revitalization. The practice team conducted a systematic investigation and research in Jinzhai County and gained a lot.

Relive the red revolutionary culture and strengthen ideals and beliefs

On July 25, the practice team came to the Jinzhai County Revolution Museum. Under the explanation of the instructor, a magnificent picture of the Jinzhai revolution that every family participates in the revolution, and every household has martyrs appeared in the minds of the team members. The small Jinzhai County has nurtured one general, eight lieutenants, fifteen major generals, and more than 11 thousand martyrs. The soldiers' undaunted sacrifice and dedication spirit greatly encouraged the team members.

Walking out of the Jinzhai County Revolution Museum, the team members came to the Jinzhai County Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery. Under the monument to the martyrs, the party activists, development targets and prospective party members reviewed the party oath. The new era needs new blood. As young people in the new era, the team members will inherit the ambitions of their predecessors and actively participate in the future construction and development of the motherland.

Field visits and investigations to explore rural revitalization

On July 26, the practice team went to Dawan Village, Huashi Township, Jinzhai County to conduct field investigations. Dawan Village used to be a national key poverty-stricken village, and the villagers’ lives were very inconvenient. Under the guidance of the party and state policies, the appearance of Dawan Village has undergone earth-shaking changes.

In 2016, General Secretary Xi Jinping came to Dawan for inspection and had a cordial exchange with the elderly Chen Zeshen who was still a poor household at the time. The practice team interviewed the elderly Chen Zeshen. He felt that with the continuous efforts of government departments, village cadres and the villagers, the rural construction of Dawan Village was flourishing. Through the visit to Dawan Village, the team members also learned that the villagers had already moved from the old and dilapidated buildings to the newly built houses, and the transportation, medical and educational conditions in the village had been greatly improved.

On July 27, in order to gain insight into the rural revitalization plan of Jinzhai County, the practice team interviewed Ge Jing, the propagandist in charge of the industrial development of Dawan Village, and Wang Xiaowei, the mayor of Guoziyuan Township, Jinzhai County. The team members learned about the specific situation and the focus of future development of local tourism, cultural and industrial revitalization. Ge Jing pointed out that Dawan Village has been lifted out of poverty and the development of various industries has begun to take shape. Next, under the guidance of the government, the village will further promote product marketing and product culture and create brand effects.

In the interview with Wang Xiaowei, the team members learned that the future development of Guoziyuan Township is divided into the construction of four gardens-a landscape garden, a cultural tourism park, a ecological orchard, and a happy home. Wang Xiaowei also mentioned to the team members that most of the high-quality talents and young and middle-aged laborers are currently working in big cities, but the realization of rural revitalization requires more labor and talent to join. The conversation with Wang Xiaowei greatly inspired the enthusiasm of the team members to serve the grassroots in the future.

Visit the industrial base to understand how technology supports agriculture

On July 28, the practice team visited the Poverty Alleviation Base of Chinese Medicinal Materials Breeding and Planting in Jinzhai County, the Polygonatum Processing Plant, and the Polygonatum Undergrowth Planting Base, and interviewed Du Jifu, Director and Party Secretary of the Jinzhai County Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Center, and Gao Haigui, general manager of Jinzhai Senfeng Agricultural Technology Development Co., Ltd. The team members learned about the important position of the traditional Chinese medicine industry represented by the Polygonatum in poverty alleviation and rural revitalization in Jinzhai County, and experienced the modern production line and photovoltaic power generation agricultural planting system. Everyone deeply felt the vitality brought by technological development to traditional industries.

Explore tourism resources and industrial transformation

On July 29th, the team members visited the natural and cultural landscape of Guoziyuan Township. In order to develop the tourism industry in Guoziyuan Township, numerous roads extending in all directions have been built in the mountainous area. Convenient transportation has become an important cornerstone for the promotion of local tourism. At the same time, Guoziyuan Township still retains countless ancient villages and ancient buildings. The students visited the ancient buildings in the Jiang Family Courtyard. The classic black tiles and white walls in the south, the ingenious drainage canals in the ancient villages, and every corner of the ancient houses made the team members feel the charm of Guoziyuan Township, making everyone confident in the local tourism revitalization road.

So far, Chang'an University’s Revisiting the Revolutionary Road and Helping Rural Rejuvenation practical activity in Lu'an, Anhui Province has been successfully concluded. The red revolutionary spirit of Lu'an has strengthened the ideals and beliefs of the team members. The prosperity and development of Dawan Village has allowed the team members to witness the pace of rural revitalization. The Polygonatum industry in Jinzhai County has enabled the team members to understand the power of science and technology to help agriculture. The beautiful scenery of the mountains and rivers in Guoziyuan Township has allowed the team members to appreciate the local poetry and prospects. After this practical activity, the students became more determined to continue to march forward courageously towards the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and devote their enthusiasm and youth to the future construction of the motherland.
