At 17:00 on May 8, students of all grades of CDIC actively participated in UCD’s online cultural exchange activities. The theme of this event was Irish traditional musical instruments and Irish dance. Clara, director of the Irish Language Studies Center of UCD, and the seniors brought introductions and performances of traditional musical instruments and dances tostudents.
The online cultural exchangeactivity
At the beginning of the activity, it was first introduced that traditional Irish musical instruments and music are an important part of traditional Irish culture, and are now popular among people in continental Europe and North America. As the most representative national musical instrument in Ireland, the harp has become a symbol of the country; Fidel is the most popular traditional musical instrument. It is very similar to the modern violin, with a soft and pure tone, and a wider style; the concertina has also been revived in recent years. Its shape is small and very delicate, and the music it plays is very suitable fordancing.

Later, the senior from UCD explained to students about the style of traditional Irish dance, the characteristics of costumes and the special design of dancing shoes, and demonstrated the unique charm of Irish traditional musical instruments and dances by theirperformance.
By introducing Irish traditional musical instruments and dances, this event aroused students' interest in Irish culture. Students experienced the charm of cultural exchanges, their international horizons were further broadened. This event has great significance to CDIC’s international talentscultivation.
