CDIC held 2020 spring semester exam board meeting

On the afternoon of October 16, 2020, CDIC held an online assessment meeting for the result of 2020 spring semester of Civil Engineering Infrastructuremajor in the meeting room on the fourth floor of Hongyuan Building. Paul Fanning (Provost of the University College Dublin, China), Shane Donohue (Head of Civil Engineering Infrastructure major), Beini Chen (Head of Cooperative Education), Wang Hainian (Dean of the CDIC), Bai Qiang (Deputy Dean of the CDIC), and Jia JieYu (Director of the Academic Affairs Office)and people who in charge of different modulesattendedthemeeting.

First of all, Paul Fanning, the Provost of the University College Dublin’s China office, gave a briefing on the overall results of the 2020 spring semester of Civil Engineering Infrastructuremajor. Then, Shane Donohue introduced the basic teaching situation and score distribution of each course of class of 2018 and 2019. She said that:Due to the pandemic, the 2020 spring courses can only be conducted through online teaching mode that combines live broadcasting and recording. However, studentshave goodoverallperformance.


Subsequently, Beini Chenand the people in charge of modulesof both parties finalized the results of each module, reviewed and summarized the overall performance of all students of cohort of 2018 and 2019. In addition, she also emphasized the issues of make-up exams, retakes of accumulated credits, and performancereviewprocedures.

Finally, Wang Hainianexpressed his gratitude to the teachers for their strong support to CDIC. He emphasized that Sino-foreign cooperation advocates the adoption of a whole-process evaluation model. It is recommended to further increase the proportion of process assessment to encourage students to develop the habit of autonomous learning.He hoped to establish a smooth communication channel between students and teachers and CDIC to ensure an effective curriculum management mechanism, so as to lay a solid foundation for CDIC'stalentcultivation.
