From September 2nd to 3rd, Wang Hainian, Dean of CDIC, led a team to SWJTU-Leeds joint school and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Glasgow College for Visiting and Study.The purpose of this visit is to learn from the operation management experience of Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions in other universities.
On the afternoon of September 2, Jin Zhongmin, Dean of Leeds joint school, and Jiang Jiuwen, secretary of the directly affiliated Party branch, had a discussion with our research team. Jin Zhongmin introduced the overall situation of Leeds joint school to the research team of CDIC, and shared the school's educational philosophy, advantages and characteristics, and some management experience and difficult issues during the operation. Huang Tao (Deputy Dean), Zhao Duo (Deputy Secretary and Deputy Dean), and Zhu Yan (Deputy Dean) respectively introduced the specific conditions of Leeds joint school’s party strengthening, teaching and student management. Wang Hainian briefly introduced the basic situation of Chang'an University and CDIC, and hoped that the two sides will promote friendship, visit and support each other more.
Participants had in-depth communications on party strengthening, talent cultivation, staffing, division of responsibilities, performance appraisal and other content. After the meeting, the research team visited and learned Leeds joint school’s advanced experience in school site layout, facilities and decoration style.
Communicating with Leeds joint school
On the morning of September 3, the research team went to the Glasgow College, UESTC for inspection and communication. Zeng Bing (Dean of Glasgow College), He Qilei (Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch), Liu Xingang (Deputy Dean) and related staff attended the exchange symposium. Zeng Bing introduced the basic situation of Glasgow College in terms of enrollment, faculty, teaching development, and student cultivation. He Qilei and Deputy Liu Xingang respectively introduced CDIC's party strengthening, daily management of counselors and team building, student status management and major certification. Wang Hainian introduced the basic situation of CDIC’s Sino-foreign cooperation, and highly praised the achievements of Glasgow College in the field of Sino-foreign cooperation. He pointed out that excellent education experience is valuable to CDIC’s future student cultivation and mechanism innovation.
Communicating with Glasgow College
The two parties also discussed and exchanged views on the concept of cooperation in education and their experience in operation and management. Gao Shiquan, secretary of the Party branch of Glasgow College, met with the research team before the symposium. After the meeting, the research team, accompanied by the staff, visited Gao Shiquan's school venue and laboratory. The two colleges exchanged souvenirs and took photos together.
