CDIC held an information exchange meeting about the registration information for Students’ exchange program at UCD

On the afternoon of January 15, 2021, CDIC and the University College Dublin held a meeting to communicate the registration informationfor its Students’ exchange program at the University College Dublin. Wang Hainian(Deanof CDIC), Bai Qiang (Deputy Deanof CDIC), Jia Jieyu (Director of Educational Administration Office) and others attended the meeting with Paul Fanning (Provost of UCD’s china office),Haris Doumanidis (Vice Provost), and Paula McGarry (Director of the UCD China Joint Office). The meeting mainly discussed and communicated the 2021-2022 overseas exchange projects of studentsof class of 2018 and2019.

From 2021 to 2022, the University College Dublin has set up two exchange programs for CDIC's studentsof class of 2018 and2019.

(1) The exchange program to the University College Dublinin the fourth year for Studentsof class of 2018 major in Civil Engineering Infrastructure: CDIC cooperates with the University College Dublin to carry out the fourth-year exchange program, providing a total of 20 exchange quotas. University College Dublin provides exclusive scholarships for CDIC’sstudents. The application system will openfrom February to April 30, 2021. This exchange in the fourth academic year to the University College Dublin will help students improve their English proficiency and have a comprehensive understanding of the University College Dublin's teaching mode. Thus,upon graduation, it will be easier for students to apply for post graduate in prestigious overseas universities. Studentswith excellent academicperformance will have the opportunity to obtain a direct PhD degree from University CollegeDublin.

(2) The exchange program to Erasmus in EU universitiesfor students of class of 2019 major in Civil Engineering Infrastructure: this program provides scholarship support for members of the EU region. University College Dublin provides 5 exchange quotasfor students of class of 2019 major in Civil Engineering Infrastructure, and will conduct a one-semester exchange study at the University College Dublin from January to May 2022. The selected students do not need to pay extra tuitionfor the University College Dublin. At the same time, the project provides 900euros living subsidy every month and a total of 1,500 euros transportation subsidies. The application for this project will close on May 31,2021.

The overseas exchange program will help students improve their English, broaden their international horizons, obtain high-quality overseas resources, and lay a solid foundation for postgraduate applications in overseas prestigiousuniversities.

At the end of the meeting, Wang Hainian expressed the hope that the two universitiescould open more overseas exchange programsin the future. In this way, both universities can cultivate high-level talents with an international perspective, and more students will have the opportunities to studyoverseas.
