From December 2nd to 6th, 2019, Mark Richardson, Emeritus Professor of the University College Dublin, accompanied Amanda Gibney, Dean of School of Civil Engineering, to visit our school. During the visit, Mark Richardson gave a series of lectures on school entrance for the students of class of 2019 of the Sino-foreign cooperativeeducation.
Starting from active learning, Mark Richardson gave a series of lectures to freshmen on learning efficiency, reading, writing assignments, and time management. When student entering the university, theyare in the transitional period from passive learning mode to active learning mode. Mark Richardson's series of lectures help thempass this transitional periodsmoothly, have a deep understanding of the characteristics of university life, improve time management skills, improve learning efficiency, and enrich universitylife.
Professer Richardson organized a teamwork training with the theme of How the History of Ireland Made Ireland Today, Students work in groups to make posters, discussand present. As a result, students' teamwork and language skills hasimproved.
For sophomores, Professor Richardson gave a keynote report on Writing Assignment, briefly introducing how to conduct academic writing and complete writing assignments for differentcourses.
In addition, Professor Mark Richardson had a discussion with Dean Amanda Gibney and all members of the National Education Center to gain in-depth understanding of the current status, student characteristics and existing problemsof theproject.
