On December 5, 2019, Amanda Gibney, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering of the University College Dublin, visited our school. She had a discussion with School representatives in the second meeting room, room607, of the Transportation Technology Building. Teacher representatives from Roads, Bridges, Tunnels, Transportation and International Education Center attended the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Professor Wang Hainian, Deputy Dean of SchoolofHighway.

Wang Hainian delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the schooland introduced the historical evolution, disciplines, and talent cultivation of the Schoolof Highway. Ma Feng, (deputy director of the Road Research Institute), Wang Xiaoming, (deputy director of the Bridge Research Institute), Liang Guohua, (deputy director of the Transportation Research Institute), and Xue Zhijia, (from Rock Tunnel Research Institute), respectively introduced the research directions, facility conditions and research frontiers of various disciplines of our institute. Dean Amanda Gibney first expressed highrecognition to the scientific research strength and experimental facilities of the School of Highway. Then, shegave a detailed introduction to the faculty composition and research fields of the Civil Engineering Department of the University College Dublin. Finally, she expressed her expectation that Chang'an University and the University College Dublin will strengthen their cooperation for faculty research in the future development. Participating teachers actively speak and communicate in depth by integrating their own teaching and researchexperiences.

In addition,the two parties discussed a number of topics including joint doctoral training and international scientific research projects.This symposium deepened the mutual understanding between the Schoolof Civil Engineering in the University College Dublin and the School of Highway of Chang'an University, which laid a good foundation for future’s cooperation in Doctoral joint training project application and scientificresearch.
