CDIC holds the first annual meeting of the Joint Management Committee

On December 16, the first meeting of the Joint Management Committeeof CDIC was held in the conference room on the fourth floor of Hongyuan Building, Weishui Campus. Sha Aimin (President and Director of the Joint Management Committee of Chang'an University), Zhao Xiangmo (Vice President), Zhang Shengzhong (Director of Academic Affairs), Jiang Zaiwen, (Director of International Cooperation), Du Wen (Director of Financedepartment), Wang Hainian (Dean of CDIC), Andrew J.Deeks(UCD President and Deputy Director of the Joint Management Committee), Dolores O'Riordan(Vice President), Paul Fanning (Provost of CDIC), David Kelly(Director of Finance), and Aoife Ahern(Dean of School of Engineering)attended the meeting. This meeting took the form of a video conference, co-chaired by Sha Aimin (Director of the Joint Management Committee), and Andrew J.Deeks(DeputyDirector).

Sha Aimin gave a speech first. He said that since the establishment of CDIC in April this year, various tasks have been progressing steadily. It is hoped that the two universities will jointly promote the connotative development of the CDIC, give full play to the functions of cooperation and exchange, and make it an important bridge formutual learning, sharing, and communicating between ChinaandIreland.

Andrew J. Deeks said that Chang'an University is an important partner of the University College Dublin, and he expressed his gratitude to Chang'an University for its efforts. He pointed out that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the two universities actively communicated, worked hand in hand to overcome difficulties, and planned for future cooperation and development to ensure the steady development ofcooperativeeducation.

The meeting reviewed and approved the work responsibilities of the Joint Management Committee and the list of member adjustments. Wang Hainian and Paul Fanning jointly reported to the Joint Management Committee on the annual work development of the CDIC. The members of the joint management committee agreed that the two sides have overcome the impact of the pandemic and have taken active steps in institutionalbuilding, enrollment publicity, teaching management, and student cultivation. The work of CDIC has been promoted in an orderly manner and has achievedremarkableresults.

Du Wen presented to the Joint Management Committee on the annual financial work of the CDIC. At the same time, David Kelly provided explanations financial budget, payment method and tuition payment Supplementary. After discussion, the Joint Management Committee adopted the overall principles of financial managementofCDIC.

The meeting passed the Administrative Measures for Undergraduates Transferring Majors of CDIC, discussed the summer study tour scholarships, and teacher-studentexchangeactivities.

In addition, members of the Joint Management Committee conducted in-depth discussions on the future work of CDIC. Zhao Xiangmo put forward many guiding suggestions for thefurther exchanges between teachers and students of the two universities. He suggested the two parties to start the application of Sino-foreign cooperative education for master and doctoral programs as soon as possible, and build an integrated Sino-foreign cooperative education system for undergraduate, master, and doctoral degrees. The proposal received a positive response from the UniversityCollegeDublin.

Dolores O'Riordanput forward hopes and suggestions from the aspects of improving the quality of talent cultivation, accelerating the construction of faculty and promoting international cooperation, and said that the University College Dublin would continue to provide strong support for the in-depth and stable cooperation between thetwoparties.

Sha Aimin and Andrew Deeks fully affirmed the achievements made since the establishment of the CDIC. At the same time, they hope that the two universities will continue to innovate ideas and measures, deepen practical cooperation, maintain high-quality education and teaching levels, and cultivate more high-level compoundInternationaltalents.

CDIC is a non-independent Sino-foreign cooperative education institution jointly organized by Chang’an University and the University College Dublin. In accordance with the Implementation Measures of the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Sino-Foreign Cooperation education and the relevant agreements between the two universities on Sino-Foreign Cooperation education, Chang’an University and the University College Dublin jointly established the “CDIC Joint Management Committee.Regular conference should be hold for the implementation of medium and long-term strategic planning, formulation of annual work plans and budgets, release of annual work reports, joint discussions on key issues. The convening of this meeting is of great significance for assessing the pre-operational status of CDIC and ensuring the follow-up quality developmentofCDIC.

Through this meeting, the two universities have further deepened the content of cooperation, expanded cooperation fields, and enriched the connotationof cooperation.
