From March 21st to March 23rd, 2019, Clár Ní Bhuachalla (Director of the Irish Language Studies Centre, University College Dublin), Aisling Sheerin, (dance coach), Beini Chen, (Project Director of the Joint School of Engineering and Architecture) and three students visited our school and carried out a variety of cultural exchange activitieswith our studentsfrom Road & Bridge and River Crossing Engineering major (Sino-foreign cooperation) at Weishui campus.Lei Xianfeng, Deputy Secretary of the School of Highway, Yang Guanghui, Director of the International Education Center, and Wang Dong, Section Chief of the International Cooperation Office of Chang'an University, had a meeting with the visitors. They had an in-depth discussion about the issues of education and cultural exchanges between the twosides.
During the activity, the students not only learned about the Irish language and culture, but also learned some traditional Irish activities such as Irish Gaelic football, songs, whistle and tapdancing.
The cooperative education program of Chang'an University & University College Dublin is the first Sino-foreign cooperative education program of our school. In this event, the students have a deeperunderstanding of the Irish national culture, established friendship with the teachers and students from University College Dublin, and enhanced the exchanges between the two sides.This activity cultivates the students’ international perspective, and enhancesstudent’s sense ofdual-studentidentification.
At the end of the event, both Chinese and Irish students activelyparticipated in the talentshow.
