On 11th of March 2024, an English activity where the UCD teachers were invited to have a conversation with CDIC students was organized around 12:30pm in the room WH1507B by Palwasha Shah from the Office of International Affairs. Along with Co-ordinator Alex ranchman, programme manager Julia Janiszewska, 8 others UCD teachers attended the activity. The activity was for the students to get to know the UCD international teachers and learn about their experiences and life in Dublin and also to get to know the Irish culture.
2024年3月11日下午，学院中外师生爱尔兰文化主题英文交流活动在WH1507B顺利举办，外方英语课程督导Alex Runchman、项目负责人Julia Janiszewska等8名外方授课教师与行政人员参加了本次活动。该活动旨在帮助学院学生提高英语交流能力，加深与外方教职工的沟通，进一步了解都柏林生活和爱尔兰文化。本次活动由学院国际交流中心Palwasha Shah组织。
Every teacher was welcomed by flowers and refreshments from the students. He Yanzhe from Automotive Engineering helped with organizing the refreshments and the activity. Some of the students prepared some Irish performances. Zhang Zipei from 1st year Automobile Engineering impressed everyone with his Violin performance. Sun Yilin, Yifan Tong and Jiangyan Song recited William Butler Yeats’s poem “When You Are Old”.
活动开始，同学们为老师们献上了鲜花，并现场带来了小提琴演奏和英文诗歌朗诵（威廉·巴特勒·叶芝《当你老了》），对本学期来华的UCD老师们表示热烈欢迎。
After the performances the teachers were asked to sit on separate tables and have English conversation with the students. They moved around and shuffle between the tables so that they could talk to as many students as possible. After the conversation which lasted for around 45minutes, a lucky draw was held. Two of the winners got the Irish Diaries which were prepared by Julia, our UCD programme manager. At the end of the activity, UCD teachers were asked to share their thoughts about the activity and any advice they would want to give to the students.
表演结束后，每位UCD老师轮流与各桌同学进行了英文对话，交流分享了他们在都柏林的生活体验，解答了大家关于爱尔兰学习生活的各种问题，并表达了对同学们的美好祝愿。随即，现场师生共同参与了幸运抽奖，两位获奖同学获得了Julia准备的爱尔兰礼物Irish Diaries。
Overall, the English conversation activity was very informative and a new experience for the students. They had the chance to talk to international teachers in English and also experienced different English accents which helped them improving their listening skills, which was the main goal of the activity. The students were very happy with the activity and later shared their views in the WeChat group.
本次师生英文对话活动内容丰富，为同学们带来了与不同国家外教用英文交流的机会，有助于大家提高英语听力和口语水平，进一步了解爱尔兰文化，拓宽自身国际视野。参与学生们对本次活动反馈良好，纷纷在微信群里分享了活动参与感受。
